The Healthcare Training Institute encourages prospective students to come in and speak with an advisor and tour the facility. During this time, the advisor will discuss the programs offered and the requirements, and help you to decide which program is right for you.

Admission Requirements

In order to be admitted to any program at the Healthcare Training Institute, an applicant must:

  • Meet with an advisor to discuss student expectations and program requirements
  • Complete an application and pay all registration fees
  • Must pass a criminal background check, (CNA, PCT, and Pharmacy Tech students)
  • Pharmacy Tech students required to take an admission test and pass with a 75%
  • Submit  high school diploma or GED, (CNA student excluded)
  • Complete a math and reading assessment test
  • Complete orientation
  • Submit completed physical exam and immunization records
  • Complete CPR certification

Practical Nursing Program Admission Requirements

The Healthcare Training Institute’s admission process for the Practical Nursing Program will occur in four (4) phases.  As you advance through the phases, you will be given additional information.

Phase I
:    Application Process

Phase II
:   Interview Procedure and Provisional Acceptance (based on interview  
                 application)  

Phase III:  Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners Evaluation (LSBPNE)                    Application and Approval Process

Phase IV:  Full Acceptance into the Practical Nursing Program

Applications:  We are not accepting applications at this time.

Phase I
 Application Process Submit the following documents.

1.      Driver’s License
2.      Birth Certificate (certificate or card with full name, no initials).  Bring in   
         originals to be copied by schools admissions department.
3.      Department of Education State Approved High School Diploma (original) /
         Department of Education State Approved GED (Original) to be copied by the 
         school.
4.      Department of Education State Approved High School Transcript (original) /
         Department of Education State Approved GED Transcript with scores (Original)
         to be kept by school. Must be in a sealed envelope signed by the agency.
5.      $40.75 Money order (payable to “Louisiana State Police”).
6.      (2) Finger print card from local police station.
7.      $200.00 (cash or money order payable to Healthcare Training Institute)
         application and TABE Test Fee (test to be scheduled upon receipt of the
         above requested documents).  Application and testing fees are
         non-refundable. (Late fee:     )

Note: If you are currently serving a court imposed order of supervised probation, work release, school release and/or parole in conjunction with any felony conviction(s), plea agreement or any agreement pursuant to the Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure, Article 893, you are not eligible to be enrolled into the Practical Nursing Program.
