The mission of the Patient Care Technician program is to prepare students for entry into a global workforce as a Patient Care Technician.
This program will prepare students for entry-level position as a Patient Care Technician in the hospital or clinic. The compentencies of this program follows the duties and responsibilities of a Patient Care Technician as outlined by the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians. Topics of study include anatomy and physiology, health assessment, nutrition, communication, and legal rights and ethics, introduction to electrocardiology, electrocardiology leads, and cardiac arrhytmias, phlebotomy practice and health care setting, infection control, legal and regulatory issues, and the venipuncture. The students will also demonstrate their skills in lab and in the clinical setting. The students will be encouraged to attain their national certification through the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians. Upon completion of all program requirements, the students will receive a certificate of completion.
